Munnar in Kerala

Tour Itinerary

The first day of the trip begins with the tour group arriving in the city of Cochin, an important city in Kerala, where a representative will meet them with all sorts of refreshments, and pick them up and help them make their way to the hotel where the group will be staying.

After settling into the hotel, the tour group will visit their first destinations, the renowned St. Basilica, one of the largest places of Christian worship in Kerala, along with the Dutch Palace, which are probably the most important pieces of heritage you’ll find in Kerala.

In the evening, after refreshments and food, the tour group will head to the docks of Cochin, to witness for themselves debatably the best and most well-kept naval shipping operations in the country.

The night will be spent at the hotel chosen by the tour company.
The second day of the trip begins with a hefty breakfast, with a majority of South Indian cuisine dishes. After the tour members rest up and have their breakfast, the group departs on a five hour journey to Munnar, one of the most well known hill stations in the state. The renown of the hill station makes it a prime location for both tourists and visitors, as the natural beauty of the hill station is absolutely stunning.

The rivers flowing into Munnar make it a piece of heaven for tourists and visitors, ensuring that the newly wedded couples are able to spend one of their first weeks of their married life at a beautiful destination.

In the afternoon, the tour group will head to the TATA Tea Museum, where they get to see the legacy of the biggest company in the country.

The group will be spending the night at a hotel in Munnar.
The third of the tour begins bright and early with exploring the reaches of the Munnar Hill Station

The Eravikulam National Park, which remains closed in the months of February and March, is the first destination the tour group will visit, and features an amazing range of rare and endangered animals, such as the South Indian Mountain Goat, which has almost become extinct. The National Park also has animals like leopards, tahrs and other such species.

After visiting the Eravikulam National Park, the group will head to Mattupetty Dam, Echo Point and Anadumi Peak, a collection of nearby locations that are a must visit when you’re in Munnar.

As you might have guessed, the group will be staying at the same hotel before heading to its new destination.
The next destination of the tour group is Kumarakom. Known as the backwaters of Kerala, Kumarakom features a beautiful peninsula that has left thousands of people stunned with the green backdrop of the location, set against the renowned Lake Vembanad.

After reaching Kumarakom, the tour members will check in to the Backwater Resort rooms booked by the tour company, and enjoy the refreshments provided. The day isn’t over yet, as the tour will then head to the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, one of the most famous bird sanctuaries in the country, with more than hundreds of different rare and exotic birds.

The afternoon and evening are reserved for enjoying water activities easily found in Kumarakom, such as sailing the signature boats of the peninsula or taking the chance to enjoy water skiing!

Members will of course be tired after all this, so the tour will then stay the night at the resort, before making the journey to Alleppey.
After waking up and enjoying a large breakfast, the tour moves on.

The next destination is Alleppey, which requires a fair bit of travel on the well renowned houseboats of Kerala.

The tour group will get on the houseboats at Kottayam, and travel on them all the way to Alleppey. The special thing about Kerala houseboats is that you will get the opportunity to enjoy the freshest dishes made of fish and other aquatic creatures.

The houseboats have a lot of recreational activities and refreshments to enjoy, such as coconut water to drink right out of the coconut, along with delicious handmade coffee like you've never had before. The coconut water provided by the houseboat attendants is said to be delicious, and have a unique flavor that people have only seen in the coconuts of Kerala.

You’ll also get to enjoy a night under the stars, as the tour group will be spending the night on the houseboats.
The tour will hit the road early next morning, as it makes its way to Kovalam to enjoy the most well known beach in the state of Kerala.

A four hour trip that shouldn’t take unduly long, it's definitely worth it. After reaching Kovalam, the group will check in at the assigned hotel and take a short rest, as they are probably tired at this point.

The trip goes on to Kovalam beach in the afternoon. A beach that has become famous all over the state, Kovalam Beach is the best choice for a fun time, and the beach has a lot of things for people to do.

You can rent a surfing board and go surfing on the excellent waves found off the beach, go kayaking in pairs or even try out sea water swimming if you’re brave enough.

You should also take the chance to enjoy the Kerala Ayurvedic Massages offered in the beach town, as they are well known for helping massively with stress build ups and tension in your muscles.
The seventh day of the trip will be spent sightseeing around the various places, nooks, corners and crannies of Kovalam. A beach town that has been providing entertainment to tourists and locals for a long time, there are a huge number of things to both see and do, if one takes the time to find them out.

One of the first things the group will see is the Padmanabhaswamy Temple, which is known around the country as being one of the famed Divya Temples of South India. A huge structure that inspired awe in hundreds and thousands of people, the Padmanabhaswamy Temple is definitely a must see.

The Napier Museum and the Sri Chitra Art Gallery are the next destinations on the list. The Napier Museum is a Museum of Natural History, while the Sri Chitra is one of the few galleries to contain portraits of the famed Raja Ravi Verma and Nicholos Roerich.

The last stop for the day is the Ponmudi Hill Station, which is filled to the brim with different plantations, such as spices, coffee and tea, along with absolutely gorgeous waterfalls for the newlyweds to enjoy and a mini zoo as well!

If you want, you can also take the opportunity to buy a little grab bag of tea samples and spice packets from the plantation.
On the last day of the tour, the group will head back to Trivandrum (a short 16 kilometers by road), where the group will leave to their respective destinations one by one.

Conclusion
Honeymoon in Munnar in Kerala is one of the most beautiful states in India, and holds a special magic for newlyweds. If you’re looking for honeymoon destinations, Munnar is one of the best places you could pick, due to its natural beauty.

It was my first time in Kerala, actually in India. Kerala is an amazing destination for honeymoon couples. My wife and I spent a week there which was my best holiday so far in Kerala arranged by Cosmovision, thanks to Shobhit and his team. Alleppey, Munnar and Periyar are the best places to see in Kerala. We both enjoyed our Honeymoon in Kerala and highly recommend the Cosmovision team.
