The beautiful Taj Mahal in Agra was built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan (reigned 1628–1658) to immortalize his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. In 1983 the Taj Mahal was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for being "the jewel of Muslim art in incredible India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world's heritage”.

The Taj Mahal is open from 06:00 to 19:00 weekdays, except for Friday when the complex is open for prayers at the mosque between 12:00 and 14:00. Agra also has several other places of interest like the Jama Masjid, Chini Ka Rauza, Aram Bagh, Mariam's Tomb, Mehtab Bagh etc.

Yes, Taj Mahal in Agra (India) is closed on every Friday because the red building on the left of the Taj Mahal (as you look at it entering the grounds) is a functioning Mosque and Friday is Prayer day for Muslims. Only prayers are offered in the Taj Mahal premises and closed for visitors. Taj Mahal is open on other days except Friday.
